Settlement Discussion with the City of Pflugerville in the Main Street East Expansion
Church Family,
In regards to the expansion of Main Street East through the back church parking lot, we have a final contract in our settlement agreement with the City of Pflugerville. To briefly summarize the agreement, the church will give up a portion of the back parking lot and property on the north side, receive an acre of land on the old gin property (east of our property) with a new parking lot, easements, and access to the new Main Street expansion, which will be paid for and constructed by the city and be maintained by the city for a number of years, plus we will receive a cash settlement in the amount of $503,000 (with 25% going to our lawyer for the year’s worth of work and negotiations on this deal). A rough estimation of the scope of the project and impact on the property are shown on the maps and renderings here.
We are exceedingly grateful for the work of Paul Shinkawa, a member of our congregation, a retired attorney, and the liaison between our attorney and the Administrative Council. We are also thankful for the work of past and present Administrative Councils for their diligent efforts and support throughout the different phases of this process.
In order to move forward in an official capacity, the members of the congregation need to gather and give their approval. We will come together in the sanctuary following the 10:00am worship service on Sunday, February 9 to briefly review the content and implications of the contract and take a simple vote. Rev. Dr. Marcus Freeman, the District Superintendent of the Capital District in the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, will preside over this Church Conference.
We look forward to seeing you here on February 9 following the 10:00am worship service as we mark this important occasion in the life of the church.
Your Pastor,
Curt Davis
